13 Ways of Enjoying Snow

I.
with baby steps,
black rain boots hesitate
at a white threshold’s edge

II.
a pale vanilla sky
spills flakes
into empty palms
and stuck-out tongues

III.
the crunch of flakes is
a soggy residue
amongst fresh powder
trampled by dog paws

IV.
Nature permitted it to snow
hence, students grumble
onward  –
sloshing and mushing

V.
billowing in your face,
tickling your nose and cheek skin
an angel is created
on vanilla icing

VI.
while café lingering,
“hot chocolate, tea, or coffee?”
would be a loving companion
to an unopened book

VII.
for the traffic man
buy a hot beverage and a cookie
how is an act of kindness
so warm?

VIII.
New Yorkers,
snow is not a disease
its fleeting elegance should be
cherished
like the whipped cream
atop your dessert(s)

IX.
the stutter in your breathe
as it bypasses silence
is a moment
snow cannot take away
but can be paused
with my kiss

X.
encrusted mountains
appear in the mirage of morning fog
skyward wind that shoot daggers into
dry, cracked skin
yet rejuvenates the air

XI.
to relive the first snowfall
we attempt to make
our eye-less snowman,
Bob

XII.
blow bubbles
watch them float up, up, up
as they pop, pop, pop
snow will be gone, too

XIII.
what is that flying – SPLAT!
did you see that coming?
